My God Is Higher: From Laundry to Launch
I was in the laundry sorting clean washing when I wrote My God is Higher.
How mundane right? 😂
These songs always seem to get born in the middle of everyday life stuff— The Pocket Song came to me while I made my bed!
(I’ve read about other artists going away on songwriting retreats… ha! Imagine that!)
It was some time later that I started looking for a Christian animator.
I posted a job titled:
“Animate a video clip of an original (Christian) children’s song.”
That’s how I met Skyler.
She had such a heart for Jesus, a passion to share the gospel with children, and so much talent.
First we needed some characters for Little Music Church.
I asked Skyler to design four children and one adorable Aussie animal.
Skyler sent me a page full of irresistibly cute designs — a koala, a dingo, a kangaroo…
But it was the quokka that won our hearts.
Total love at first sight!
We showed our kids — and the room erupted in a unanimous “AWWWWWW!”
After tossing around names like Quokky, Cuddles, and Squish…
one name stuck: Squokkles.
And now today — after a loooong wait — our very first animation (yes, even before Biggest Fan) is finally LIVE!
I hope your family enjoys Squokkles as much as we’ve enjoyed creating him!
