Enjoy Him
Before we had children, Terry and I were part of a small band called Hummingbird. We spent many weekends playing weddings, parties, and had a regular mid-week spot at a cosy local wine bar. With tight harmonies and acoustic guitars, we covered all the best feel-good songs—Carole King, The Carpenters, all the classics. Those were great gigs, and to this day I still love the sound of those soft, harmony-rich “doo-da-da-dos.”
Performing with “Hummingbird” (that’s my gorgeous little sister on the right)
Fast forward about ten years. Hummingbird had been gently set aside, replaced by a much more boisterous audience: OUR CHILDREN.
Around that time, I was also working my way through the Westminster Shorter Catechism… and I couldn’t get past question one!
“What is the chief end of man?”
“To glorify God and enjoy Him forever.”
I could not shake those last two words: enjoy Him.
Not just know Him. Not just glorify Him. Enjoy Him.
Out of that season came a little prayer-song for our kids—a hope that every day of their “long, long life” they would truly enjoy the Lord their God. And when it came time to re-record it for this new album, I felt a strong pull to sing it the way I used to in my Hummingbird days. So the track carries some of that sweet, sweet goodness… even opening with a few of those “doo-da-da-dos” for good measure 😉
As we release our brand-new album Enjoy Him, my prayer is that this song—and the whole album—becomes special to your family too.
This I pray for you, for your children, and for mine:
“Every day of your long, long life,
Enjoy the Lord your God.”

The song Enjoy Him is track five… but why not start right at the beginning and enjoy the whole thing from track one? 😉
Thank you, as always, for listening, sharing, and singing with us.
